Family & General Dentist in Wadsworth, Ohio

Premier Family Dental gives families across Wadsworth, Medina County and the surrounding area one dental home for every generation, where you’re never lectured and every treatment is explained before it begins.

Premier Family Dental is an independent, doctor-owned family dentist, so your care plan comes from the dentist who examined you, not from a corporate quota. Cleanings, fillings, crowns, root canals and emergency visits are all handled here, so nobody in your family gets bounced between offices. If fear has kept you away, nitrous, oral and IV sedation are all available. Dr. Shahir Khalil earned his sedation license during his residency at Miami Valley Hospital, and only a small number of general dentists hold one.

If it’s been five or ten years, you won’t be lectured. You’ll get an upfront itemized estimate and time to decide what comes first.

Dr. Khalil built this practice on High Street, in the same town where his father ran a veterinary practice for nearly forty years.

675 High St, Suite A, Wadsworth Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. (330) 334-7645

Dental Cleaning

Plenty of offices treat a long gap between cleanings as a reason for a lecture. Here it is simply where your visit starts: you tell the hygienist how long it has been, the cleaning is paced around what worries you, and a hand signal agreed beforehand stops the work any time you raise it.

Dental Hygiene

Kimberly, one of the practice’s hygienists, has more than thirty years of clinical experience and teaches continuing education to other dental professionals. Every hygiene visit includes a gum check you can watch on screen, so if a deep cleaning is ever recommended, you see the measurements behind it before you are asked to agree to anything.

Dental Specialists

A referral usually means new paperwork, a new waiting room and more weeks with the tooth that started it all. Dr. Khalil is a general dentist, not a specialist, but his hospital residency means root canals, wisdom teeth and implants are usually done here, and when a case truly needs a specialist, you are told why.

Dental Treatment

Crowns are designed and milled in the office with CEREC and placed the same day, so there is no plastic temporary and no second appointment. Fillings are tooth-colored and bonded, and everything found is laid out by urgency so you choose where to start, with a written estimate for each step.

Family Dental

One building on High Street, one team, and one trip that can cover a child’s first cleaning, a parent’s crown and a grandparent’s denture check. Kids get extra patience and a pick from the treasure chest on the way out, and nobody has to learn a new office when a tooth needs more than a cleaning.

Oral Cancer Screenings

Problems in your mouth are far easier to deal with when they are caught before they hurt, which is why an oral cancer screening is part of your regular visit here, not an add-on. The practice uses an Identafi 3000, which shines special light to help show changes in your gums, cheeks and tongue that are hard to spot by eye.

Sedation Dentistry

Being told to just toughen up has never gotten anyone through a dental visit. Dr. Khalil holds a conscious sedation license, which only a small number of general dentists hold, so nitrous, oral and IV sedation are all offered in this office, for anything from a cleaning to a root canal. With oral or IV sedation, you will need someone to drive you home.

Frequently asked questions

I haven’t been to the dentist in years. Will I get a lecture?

No. Coming back after five or ten years away is more common than most people think, and it’s often because of a bad experience or embarrassment. Your first visit is about finding out where things stand today, not how you got here. You’ll see your images, hear what’s urgent and what can wait, and decide together what comes first.

What if I’m afraid of needles or the drill?

Dr. Shahir Khalil holds a conscious sedation license, which only a small number of general dentists hold. That means nitrous oxide, oral sedation and IV sedation are all available in this office, and you can talk through which one fits you before treatment. Before anything starts, you’ll agree on a stop signal you can give without speaking, and the work pauses when you use it.

Will you tell me I need a deep cleaning?

Only if your gums actually need it. A deep cleaning is recommended when your measurements and digital images show gum disease below the gumline, and you’ll see that evidence yourself. As an independent practice, there are no corporate production targets behind the recommendation. If a regular cleaning is all you need, that’s what you get.

How will I know what my treatment costs before I agree to it?

You get an upfront itemized estimate before treatment begins, showing each procedure and what your insurance is expected to cover. Nothing is started until you’ve seen the numbers and said yes. Estimates are based on what your plan reports ahead of time, and plans can occasionally pay differently, but you’ll never begin treatment without knowing the expected cost.

Does Wadsworth’s water help protect my kids’ teeth?

Yes, if you’re on city water. Wadsworth pumps its water from groundwater wells that naturally carry about 0.3 milligrams of fluoride per liter, and the city adds fluoride to bring it up to between 0.8 and 1.2, the range shown to help prevent tooth decay. Homes on a private well outside city service don’t get that added fluoride. If that’s your family, mention it at your visit, because in-office fluoride and sealants can make up some of the difference.
