Are you an implant specialist?
No. Dr. Khalil is a general dentist, and he will tell you so. He graduated from The Ohio State University College of Dentistry and completed a hospital residency at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, and that training is why he places and restores implants himself. If your X-rays show a case that truly needs a specialist, you are told why and referred honestly.
Will getting an implant hurt?
The area is numbed before the implant is placed, and if nerves are the bigger problem, nitrous, oral and IV sedation are all available in this office. Dr. Khalil holds a conscious sedation license, which only a small number of general dentists hold. A hand signal agreed beforehand stops the work at any point. With oral or IV sedation, you will need someone to drive you home.
How much do dental implants cost, and will insurance help?
It depends on how many teeth are being replaced and what goes on top, so the cost is worked out for your mouth rather than read off a price list. Before anything is scheduled, you get a written, itemized estimate with your insurance applied. The office is in-network with most PPO plans and files your claims, and in-house financing and CareCredit are there if you ask, never pushed.
Can implants stop my dentures from slipping?
Usually, yes. Mini dental implants are small implants placed in your jaw that your denture snaps onto, so it stays in place when you eat and talk. Dr. Khalil places them in this office, and the same team fits and adjusts the denture afterward. You get a written, itemized estimate with your insurance applied before any treatment is scheduled.
Should I get an implant, a bridge or a partial?
It depends on how many teeth are missing, the health of the teeth around the gap, and your budget. An implant replaces the root without touching the neighboring teeth, a bridge is fixed in place using the teeth on either side, and a partial is removable and usually costs the least. The options are laid out with your X-rays on screen and a written estimate for each.
